Great white shark research news
In 2018 Acclaimed wildlife cinematographer, shark advocate and television presenter Andy Casagrande hosted a 5 day exclusive Cinema science expedition alongside our team which turned out to be one of the best trips of the year! Andy brought a group of shark enthusiasts along with his wife Emma and managed to film sharks in a unique way using his and Mauricio Hoyos’ fin cams.
This year we hosted two good friends of SDX once more during our 2017 season. After a successful 2016 collaboration, Greg Skomal and the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy returned for another two trips back to back. Joining us once again was Ralph Collier of the Shark Research Committee for his third expedition late into the season. Both charters where treated to some of the best shark action of the year! The Atlantic white shark conservancy is a charity network supporting scientific research, improving public safety, and educating the community, to inspire conservation of Atlantic white sharks. Led by Dr Greg Skomal, we hosted the conservancy during the 2016 Guadalupe season and look forward to a successful partnership into the future. Read this update
The Shark research committee is a non-profit scientific organisation with Its primary focus being Pacific coast White shark behaviour and ecology. The Marine Conservation Science Institute is a non-profit organisation conducting ongoing research on the Great White shark population at Guadalupe Island. SDX annually contributes towards Biologist Nicole Nasby Lucas’ Great white shark ID database and in 2015 we ran a special Expedition to the Island hosted by Dr Michael Domier. Read this update
